Jackson was fifteen days old on the day I got to spend time with him, his mommy and daddy (Jessica and Jason). The brand new family of three live in Nashville, but were down visiting family for Christmas which gave way to the perfect photography opportunity. We met up at Jessica’s parents beautiful home with so much wonderful light it was a photographer’s dream. I have known J&J for some time now. We all went to high school together. It is wild that we are all “growing up” at the same time with babies born in the same year. Jackson is one of the most laid back babies I have ever met. He is so sweet and cuddly and I just fell in love with his little squishy face. Don’t you just love a squishy newborn face? Ya know, when they lay their head down and their little cheeks just squish right up (pictured above :). Oh and his lips. It just isn’t fair for a boy to have such lips. They are just perfect and everyone is wondering if he will end up with Jessica’s thick long eyelashes. Either way, Jackson is absolutely adorable and a big sweetheart. Thanks for letting me hang out with you guys and taking care of me even when I locked my keys in my car. Yikes! Please enjoy your sneak peek!

Tony and Rebecca are two of the sweetest people you will ever meet and they are multiplying their sweetest with the impending arrival of Baby Jackson coming Feb. ’09. This impending arrival is following the timeline of my pregnancy with Ada. I loved being pregnant during the holidays and it seems quite the same for Rebecca. Pregnancy suits her well. I love a baby bump and Rebecca’s is just perfect. With the clock striking 4am I will put less into words and more into the pics. Thank you both for having me over to your home. I had a great time and am looking forward to meeting Jackson. Please enjoy your sneak peek.

This is another “good things come to those who wait” post, at least I am hoping. This is a session I did this weekend and with caring for our little girl who has been under the weather I had to delay this post a bit (update: after taking Ada to the doc today it was confirmed she has an ear infection, but after some good rest and some great medicine she is on the mends) Back to the post. This family of four is absolutely wonderful. Remi and Sara have two amazing daughters Liel (2 yrs) and Madeliene (4 mths). Not only do they have love for each other, but also so much love for the Lord. They are abroad teaching of Christ’s love and equipping others to become “missionaries” in their everyday life. Check out more of what they have been up to here. These two girls reaffirmed that I think I just want all girls which is wild bc at one point I thought I wanted all boys. Liel and Madeleine had the sweetest interactions with each other. Liel just wanted to love on her little sister and when she was not busy with that she was busy running all over the place. This little girl is incredibly smart and so full of excitement. It is wild how two girls coming from the same mom and dad could look so very different and have such different personalities. I love them both. They are both as precious as could be. Thanks you all for having me out and can’t wait to see you guys upon your next return. Enjoy your sneak peek.

So we just got back from celebrating Christmas at my parents and…..I can NOT decide on which nominee to chose! Oh man! So I am pulling an outside source to do the deciding for me. Today was the cut off for the nominations, a decision has to be made and I know I said today was announcement day, but I lied. Give me one more day, people. Please? Hard, seriously hard decision. There are so many worthy people out there. Reading these stories makes me want to be a better person. So many people who give and don’t even have it to give, or have lost so much, but chose to only see the good. Wow! So everyone is going to have to wait a bit longer. Thank you for your patience. I am anxious to see who the well deserving family will be too. If you are just now hearing about Giving is Awesome for the first time tonight then feel free to catch up here. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

At last, the opportunity presented itself to do a session with good friends Chris, Amy (Amy has additional pictures posted on her blog) and their precious 15 mth old daughter, Anna Kate. We did a little indoors and some outdoors. This little girl cracked me up with her seriousness throughout the day. I believe it is the whole walking thing and making sure she checks everything out. Don’t worry this happy little girl smiles alot and I did capture many moments, but then there she was, back down to business. Serious business :) My favorites are Anna Kate in her tutu, so that is pictured frequently. Thank you for allowing me to come and document a day in the life of you three. I had a great time and can’t wait to do it again sometime! Even though you have already seen it (facecbook has ruined me, comments and all) here is your sneak peek, again!

I first heard of Giving is Awesome here. As soon as I heard about it I knew I definitely wanted to be a part and hope you will too. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty. You know someone. I guarantee it. I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography including 20 4x6s, 10 5x7s, 5 8x10s, 1 11×14, and a 16×24 mounted canvas. It’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season. Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a complimentary session and print credit as well. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

  • You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)
  • The nominee must reside in Tennessee. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my services. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.
  • You must e-mail me the full story : moncriefphotography@gmail.com

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries! Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

much love,

-brittany-
