Welcome to the longest blog post in the history of America (ahem, my blog). Welcome to the birth story of Miss Lila Tate. Me and narrowing down images just don’t get along. I, however, believe you will make it with me on the long haul, because who could not love this family nor resist a brand new baby. :) Afterall, who would not want to see the journey of this little girl’s entrance into the world. Grab a tissue and click HERE for your slideshow.

Upon arriving to their hospital room, the scene set before me was two happy people playing a friendly game of scrabble. Though, with solely vowels left in his menagerie of little cream colored tiles, Robert’s stake in the game was quickly coming to an end. Aston had started her pitocin and waited patiently as labor progressed.

I went to the waiting area while Aston received her epidural. In there I found Robert’s mom and dad and little Carson too. After the pain management was in place we headed back to the hospital room.  Carson entered the room to see her mommy in a hospital bed for the very first time. This sweet little two year old just did not know what to think.

Her daddy brought out some smiles and assurance.

I love this little Carson face!

Robert handed Carson a book and said let’s read with mommy. Carson instead crawled up on the couch with Robert’s mom to read the book, while looking over at her mommy still unsure what to think.

With her doll in tow, her daddy scooped her up to read one last book together as a family of three before Carson’s little sister arrived.

Carson felt much better about this hospital business after the book and she gave her mommy a big kiss to prove it.

Her daddy of course had to get a snuggle.

Aston began to really feel the contractions. One moment she was still and silent, but. . .

thankfully the next moment she  was able to laugh at her surroundings. This particular moment of laughter was cued by something funny Robert’s sister put on Facebook about Boaz :)

Carson was surrounded by her loving grandparents. She was particularly interested in Robert’s dad’s mustache on this day :)

The more grandparents arrived. This time Daddy Goose, Aston’s dad.

 Contractions continued.

Thankfully the smiles continued too. Aston, your smile is radiant especially in the midst of labor.

A little oxygen for precaution.

iPad? Check, MacBook Pro? Check, iPod Touch? Check, Android? Check . . .tell me which one doesn’t belong :) :)

Time for Aston to try to rest. She had not gotten much sleep the night before, so I can only imagine how tired she was.

A quick prayer before we went off for lunch and allowed Aston to rest.

Upon our return, the contractions had intensified  and the epidural began to wear off.

 too beautiful Aston…too beautiful!

Aston’s dad came over for some comfort for his daughter.

 waiting on lila. . . :)

Aston’s mom was by her side from the time she got there until the tim Lila arrived. There’s something special about your mom when you are becoming a mom (again, in this case).

Aston, seriously you are about to have a baby…you look way too good!!

A reflection in the monitor. . . Aston’s mom with her hand on Aston’s belly for the last :)

 More waiting. More contractions.

So apparently Robert has a tendency to pass out or nearly do so in certain medical situations. When I came back into the room earlier after Aston received her epidural, Robert was white as a ghost. In this scene he was telling his mother in law about the mornings events along with another time he almost passed out.

It was quite the comic relief for Aston. :)

The contractions became much more intense and the epidural continued to wear off.

 The contractions were becoming unbearable.

The nurse  turned on the newborn warmer and left to get the anesthesiologist.

Everyone was so relieved to see the anesthesiologist.

Then he shared he was unable to give a re-dose of the epidural.

See the middle chart? See where the line went off the charts? This is when Aston was told there would not be a re-dose.

 Contractions were extremely hard.

 It was time to push.

Love this moment between Aston’s husband and Aston’s mom.

Aston did amazing and did not have to push long at all! Seriously seriously amazing Aston!!!

 Relief

Robert’s face with single tear, showed his pride for his wife and joy that his precious daughter had arrived.

Miss Lila Tate and all her screaming glory :) Absolute brand new baby perfection and her apgar said so too. . .perfect 10! Can’t beat that!

Lilla Tate. . .so squishy and CUTE!

 7 is a perfect number!

 teeny tiny fingers

 I love this sweet face!

She looked right over at her daddy and mimi who came to get a look. You could tell she recognized their voices.

That lip! Minutes old and she has it down pat! :)

Daddy Goose came over to check this girl out. The nurse cupped her hand over Lila’s face to shield her from the light so she would open her eyes.

Lila, you are squishy and oh so adorable!

Lila, I can not get over how adorable you were and minutes old!!!

Elation from Aston!

First ever moments with both mommy and daddy

Smitten already

Yep, Lila I will tell you right now. Your dad is s nut!

:):):)

Lila, you are even cute when you cry!

Laughing at her hubby and his way too big scrub shirt. . .

I am pretty sure four Roberts could fit in their.

I came back later once Carson arrived to get her first reactions of her newborn little sister. Carson was all about her!!

Carson, from day one you have been an over the top sweet big sister!

Carson wanted to show me her “other” baby.

A close up of Lila’s perfect little newborn pout

Seriously amazing big sister Carson!!

Aston you better be glad you did not have a c-section or else it would have hurt to laugh :) Robert jumped a mile high while changing Lila’s diaper and it was hysterical, especially to Aston :)

Carson did so well holding her little sister for the first time.

Lila Tate and. . .

The proud new big sister Carson. You can check out her two year old session here which took place THE week before Lila arrived.

What an absolutely amazing day! Welcome to the world Lila Tate! You are one well loved little girl! Your mommy, daddy and big sister love you and the Lord has ALWAYS loved you!! Love each of you so much!!!

I have photographed this family since Emma was a brand new baby. I can’t believe years have passed. Emma is now 3 and now there is baby Jack too.  This little guy has got to be the happiest baby I have ever met. He shared nothing but huge open mouth gummy smiles the entire time. Love love love this sweet little guy! Love this entire family honestly! I went to UTC with Emma and Jack’s mommy and daddy so I have known them for a long time. I am so lucky to be able to call them  in real life friends! I know this year has been the hardest that you have ever had to face, but one would never ever know it from the love that is witnessed when you four are together. May your love and happiness towards each other continue to light the world around you. Hope you love your slideshow :) Click HERE.

First shot out of the camera. I’m telling you this little guys is happy + adorable = perfection!!

He quickly showed off his sitting up skills and more of his happy little self.
Gosh and more of his cuteness. . .
Then he showed of fondness of his sister. He did not keep his eyes off her. You are so beautiful Melissa :)
I think this might have been Jack’s first time down the slide. He was quite fond of it!! :)
Here is Emma! She was also all smiles during the session. She is at such a fun age! Look at how much she loves her daddy too! These two are definitely buddies!
I love your beautiful smiling face Emma!
Jack, seriously could you be any cuter!?!
Melissa, I love you two and your sweet smiles!!
You two are killing me with this completely unprompted cuteness.

After Emma’s sweet acts of affection with her brother she quickly ran over to the playground. . .
and then back to her little bro to play with his little tuft of hair. I love pre-schoolers and their randomness! :)
Sweet family swing time :)
Dusty, Melissa and Jack had some sweet snuggle time while Emma ran around and played.
Love you guys!!
:)
After our time at the park we headed back to their house. Emma immediately wanted to show me her truck. This little chick is the perfect combination of girly girl and tomboy :)
Jack you are toooooooo cute little dude!

Emma wanted to show me some more of her toys. Upon her request I actually got this out of her closet for her. I have a feeling she had not played with it a while, but I love how she wanted to share it with me this day! :)
Did I mention Jack was a happy baby?!?
After Jack had some dinner it was bathtime. Did the cuteness continue? Oh yes it did!
Jack, I love all your expressive facial expressions!
So stinking cute Jack!!
:):)
If you know Dusty, you know he is hilarious. This absolutely cracked me up! Love it!!
Jack is it possible for you to NOT be cute? I think not!
The it was time for some daddy snuggles :)

Love this boy. . . absolutely love him!
I think Emma is already starting to show signs of her inheriting her father’s humor :)
More sweet snuggles.
Watch out everyone. . .I am ready to move it move it!
Love this little family scene :)
Ending on some additional preschooler randomness. Ready one moment and then doing a “magic trick” involving  jumping over a ribbon. Seriously love this girl and her ability to entertain!
Thank you four for allowing me to hang with you and document this time in your life. I loved every moment of it!

We met up just 2 days after the day of record rain in Chattanooga. The day was dark, rainy and covered with big grey clouds, but the light radiating from this family’s love more than overshadowed the ugly weather. Speaking of love. . .it describes exactly how I feel about this amazing family! Yep, I love these guys! A LOT! This family of (now four :) made their first MP appearance last year as a family of three. Soooo excited to spending the next year with them so be prepared to see a lot of the awesome family in the next 12 months

Hope you love your slideshow (okay, you kinda already told me you do, because I kinda already shared it with you :) You could not have a baby without seeing your maternity session first :) Lila was born this week (can NOT wait to share her birth session!!) and the morning she arrived the slideshow was magically finished and the family cried while viewing it and it made me happy bc that is my favorite thing to hear. . .happy tears only of course :) All that to say, Click HERE for the slideshow.

Okay and one more BIG thing. . .not only is the family absolutely adorable, not only are they very sweet friends of ours, but they are also extremely talented wedding videographers or cinematographers (choose your title preference :) Go grab a box of tissues and check out their incredible wedding films. If you are getting married hire. these. guys. Your search is complete because I just pointed you to THE best. You can thank me later :) They are the one’s that did our Moncrief Photography Promo Video. Yep, it was the cool cats pictured below!

Carson and a Lila (LEE-la)

This sweet little smiling face greeted me as I entered the family dining area :)
Love those eyes darting over to her daddy.
Robert is such a fun daddy. I love fun daddies! I am thankful to be married to one and so thankful to be surrounded by them. Robert you rock!
Carson, could you be any cuter!?! The girl was hamin’ it up the entire time. Completely unprompted! :)
Wardrobe change and a shot of Carson’s big girl room + bed that she recently moved into in anticipation of her little sister’s arrival.
Yep, these guys are one of those fun families that do silly things like chase each other down the hall. Only things really cool families do…ah-huh :)
Showing off her new nightly hibernation spot :)
Carson loves to read and Carson loves to suck her fingers. This is a girl after my own little man’s heart. Yep, our 6 month loves to suck those same two fingers :) …and Aston, can we say basketball, because that describes your perfectly round sphere of adorableness.
Carson also loves hats, no matter the season and no matter the amount of warmth they provide or lack. She also has cool parents that allow her to share her hats with them and they flaunt them oh so well. She even shared one of her hats with me :)
This little hat wearing cutie was being extra adorable by popping in and out of the doorway playing hiding and seek with her mommy and daddy. Way too cute! Just like with the hats, Carson wanted me to be involved too. I don’t think she quite understood why I was not playing with them :)
Carson was serious about some coloring and you are right, they are lying in their kitchen. This is something they honestly do on a normal basis. Of course they cook dinner in the kitchen, but in the interim they lie on the floor and color. . .why not, right!?!

Sorry guys, but my mind just flashed forward about 13 years in theses pics. Carson…a teenager…lying on her bedroom floor. I know I spent half of my teenage years lying on the floor in my bedroom talking on my {landline} phone :) Carson, you are too cute…too cute I say!
Aston, I love your smile! If you see Aston with Carson then you will definitely see a lot of smiling going on!!
I love this one :)
Carson in her old room and Lila’s new room. Aston, your belly is fabulous! I love your baby bump!
Aston, you amaze me! I could not put on my own shoes, much less someone’s shoes when I was 38 weeks pregnant.
:):):)
They put a little spice in their daily walk around the block :)
Carson was not sure if she wanted to continue on the walk. Going around in a circle and getting dizzy was much more fun :)
Hop hop hop! Aston, again amazing…even though you were doing a modified “hop”, had I done this when I was pregnant…pretty sure I would have peed my pants…let’s just be honest people.
Carson, you are such a little beauty!!

Those fingers :)

The sidewalk home
Seriously, little ham…love this chickie chick! :)
Bedtime routine starts now. What’s up first? Bath time with this little cutie…seriously cute…seriously cute!
Op, but not before we pee pee in the potty. That tush is so stinking cute!
Time to brush our teeth. Mommy is so funny!! :)

She’s a fan!
:):):)
soaking wet hugs :)
Next up. . .storytime

Have I mentioned I think you’re cute, Carz?
Bedtime prayers :)
She ended the session just as she started it. . .with a big Carson smile! :)
Love. you guys :) :) :)

Jackson is 2 and a half years old and at this fun age during this fun session he tickle monster attacked me. It was hilarious! He was pretty much tickle-monstering everyone…Woody, Buzz, his mom, his dad, Bailey (his dog) and me. This was only a portion of the fun we had the day of his session :) Love this kid, love his laughter and love his smile! There’s a whole lot of him to love in his slideshow too. Click HERE.

I have been documenting the life of Jackson for almost three years now. It all started back in December 2008 when Jackson was a newborn. This will be our 6th session since. I could photograph this family any day of the week. Bring on 6 more please :) It literally just feels like yesterday. It is hard to see kiddos grow up so fast, but at least they get even more fun which was most definitely evident in this session. Jason, Jessica and Jackson moved into their new house last year and there is one room that remains empty which seems to be quite alright with Jackson.
Jackson was all about Buzz, Woody and the whole Toy Story gang. Looking at this pic I can still “hear” him zooming Buzz around.
Knuckle bump by Woody and Buzz
Jessica is an amazing mom and such a good boy mom. You know what I am saying? She did however sit this one out. She sat on the sidelines and watched over her boys playing together. Jessica, you are too cute!!
Love that the Woody-Buzz Battle continued into Jackson’s room from the living room.
I was torn between posting one big pic or posting the sequence and so I obviously ended up going with the sequence. It cracked me up to much! Jackson put on the tickle monster mitts and immediately went full force into tickling his dad. Love how Jason just relished in the moment.
We have the tickle monster kit at our house, but no one in my household is up to the Tickle Monster status where Jackson is. He needs to give us lessons. I did not even tell Jackson this information when he decides to tickle monster attack me. You can see it in his eyes here:
and then he comes at me in full tickle monster force! I love this kid and I really love that some of theses were actually in focus. He is so stinking adorable I can’t even stand it. Clone him people….right. now.
Then it was Jessica’s turn and she is the tickle monster queen so she even let Jackson keep the monster mitts :)
Watch out Bailey. . .here. he. comes!!!! The tickle monster mitts are apparently still growing on Bailey :)
As soon as we got downstairs Jackson put on his mommy shoes and started jumping around. I don’t know any little boy that has not tried on his mommy’s shoes. Love!
Jackson is really into his trains right now.

I think a whirlwind of events could have been going on in the house and Jackson would have remained completely entranced.
At this point it was time to head outside.
Jackson is quickly learning how to ride his tricycle though it is still a little tricky with the slight slope of the sidewalk.

Headed back up the slope :)
Jessica is so cute. Jackson was chasing his mommy down the sidewalk
What. a. cutie.
Gosh, its a toss up. Tickle Monster mitts or this pillow fight. Loved them both and seriously, this family is that cute that they do both on a regular basis. So little would you know that Jackson is hiding behind the pillows in the shot on the left until he popped out and surprised all of us in the shot on the right. Love Jason and Jessica’s faces :)
From then on, watch out! Here come the pillows! Love these faces!
Jump. Hit. Fall. Splat.
Boys, Jessica looks serious! …. Jackson better be glad his dad his uber tall and can throw him up high!
So much fun! We wrapped up the in home fun and did a quick trip to downtown Franklin. The seriousness. . .
…did not last long!
Our downtown destination was Sweet Cece’s. The product the same, but the interior design was much different than its Chattanooga counterpart.
This part of course is a Sweet Cece’s must have. . .all the toppings and believe me Jackson asked for a little bit of every single one :)
cutie!

Like most little guys, Jackson loves to watch for policemen, firetrucks and all sorts of trucks really. So we did some truck watching.

We soon headed back to the car, but not before a few more pit stops :)

Low five!
You’re killing me with your cuteness Jackson!
Oh and your seriousness too!

A little hide-n-seek :)

Love you three so much! Hope you love these images as much as I do. They make me smile. big. really big!! xoxoxoxo

Last year I did a 6 month session for Benton. Here it is, 11 months later and I am back in Brentwood to photograph this beautiful family once again, however this time Benton has a little sister, Miss Sophia Marie. This little girls is so precious and Benton is such a good big brother. He’s not quite done being little himself at 18 months old, but surprisingly he has shown few signs of being jealous. All boy and full of energy, Benton loves to wrestle with his daddy, love on his mommy and give kisses to his little sister. It will be so fun to see these two grow up together and what Sophia Marie will think of her big bro. I am pretty sure she is going to be awfully fond of her big bro.

Hope you love your slideshow! Click HERE.

This little girl is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous!

These two were having some male bonding time as I arrived. Snacks and watching the big screen. . .oh yeah! Okay and some snuggling too :)

I think it is safe to say that Amy is absolutely in love with her little girl. She is no longer out numbered by the boys. Love this happy little girl! :)

Next, Benton showed me around his play room, but not before he found something fun and exciting to look at outside.

Matt had some quiet time with just he and Sophia Marie. It is wild how different the energy level can be between a newborn and 18 month old. Sometimes there is nothing like the stillness of a newborn. . .
…but then again, sometimes there is nothing like the entertaining factor that comes with the rambunctiousness of an 18 month old. . .

When Benton wanted to give his little sister a kiss my heart just melted. So sweet :)

More of the cute little wild man :)

So 18 months old is a busy time, but regardless Benton loves to stop and read a book.

All kins of fun-ness was going on in here….tickling…laughing…wrestling…sibling kisses and a little more tickling :)

Sweet Sophie Marie was having some quiet time.
Benton knew something was going on and he wanted to be a part.
This was his old room and his old crib. He does not mind that his sister has it now as long as she shares :)

How sweet is he?

This is a dress that Amy’s mother made out of a section of her own wedding dress. Impressed is an understatement. So sweet! :)

Sweet, still and quiet meets. . .
playful and fun!
Benton decided to go have some hang time in his playroom while I hung out with the rest of the fam :)
Smitten? I definitely think they are!

I can not believe how strong this little girl is already. I actually I can. . .here daddy is a professional basketball player and if you remember from Benton’s 6 month session, he was crawling, sitting up, climbing stairs and starting to walk. . .at 6 MONTHS!….yeah!

We then headed to their local park for a few minutes. This is one of Benton’s favorite hangouts!

Seriously, so beautiful Miss Sophia Marie!! xoxo

Thank you thank you thank you for inviting me up to hang with you guys! Can not wait to see each of you very soon!!!

I love this little fam! Lindsay and I have known each other since we were 11 years olds, so almost two-thirds of our life…now that…is crazy! Now we are both all grown up, married and both recently had little boys within two months of each other. Finn is 8 months old and all over the place. He is crawling, though getting around vertically is his preferred method. Currently while holding a hand of anyone who will help him toddle, but it definitely won’t be long until he is doing it all by himself. Along with his super mobile abilities he is all about exploring his new world. When we were together for this session he was infatuated with the new textures beneath his feet. . . rock, soil, foliage. He wanted to see it all. He can laugh up a storm, but his most common disposition is pensive, as aforementioned, he takes in everything he sees by using every bit of his 5 senses :) So yes, Finn is awesome and adorable, but so are his parents so nothing less would have been expected!! These two crazy cats have been taking over South Korea in an English speaking way one Korean student at a time for the past 3 years. Last fall, I flew across the pond to visit them in the land of the morning calm. Whit thankfully was able to handle every bit of the preggo Lindsay and me. I really wish I had a blog post to link to that documented the shenanigans of two knocked up crazy Caucasian kids taking Korea, but I do not :( Stalk one of us on facebook and you will see all the awesome pics Lindsay took of our adventures. Sorry, I feel like my words are be-bopping all over the place :) All this to say is I love these three to absolute pieces! Much much love to each. of. you.

I know you already saw this, but I hope you love it forever :) Your slideshow.
