Tom + Tara. He told absolutely no one and no one suspected anything. He loved her, wanted to marry her and needed to put a ring on her finger.

They went out to eat with his brother and his brother’s wife. Tom laughed at every joke, but held tight to his own. Still no one suspected a thing. After dinner Tara and Tom took a late night stroll around the Hunter Art Museum’s exterior. They had the place to themselves and Tom finally had much to say. . . how they had known each other for over 20 years and while friendship had ensued they had never dated, but since they had started seeing each other in this different light, fate stepped in and it was just meant to be. While these sweet words were being spoken. Tara remained clueless until she saw the ring box and heard Tom mutter the words, “Tara, will you please do me the honor of being my wife?”. With tears of joy she wholeheartedly accepted.

Tara has always had a thing for the 1940s and her wedding will be showcasing this theme. Tom, Tara and Tara’s sweet boys got all decked out in some 1940s garb for a segment of their engagement session. We had so much fun! After hanging out at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo everyone did a wardrobe change and we took a little stroll around the Southside. We used the last part of our session for some Tom and Tara only time in the same spot Tom asked Tara to be his wife. It was a jam packed fun filled engagement/family session. Seriously so excited to shoot your wedding in June.

amy + grant . just because {chattanooga photographer}

I had the honor of photographing their Chattanooga wedding and now a year later they are still as fun and flirty as they have been from the beginning. If not even more so :) Amy and Grant are kind and continually follow up on the well being of others. They think of others before themselves and are very close to both family and friends. I really enjoyed reconnecting with them behind the camera during our Just Because Session. There really is no need to have a “reason” to have a photo session. So often after we get married we never again have professional photos done of ourselves along with our loved ones. Even, with kiddos, many have their kids photographed but not themselves. I love that Amy and Grant wanted more pictures of just them. just because. :) . . .and what an absolutely beautiful day we ended up with for their session. The sky could not have been any closer to perfection. I did absolutely nothing to the sky in post processing. . . promise! This instead was a God given gift. Amy and Grant, I think you two are fabulous! Thank you for always being just that!

Chelle and Evan. They met in the nursing program at UTC. They love downtown Chattanooga date nights and in the summertime you can inevitably found them out on the lake. I am excited for them in continuing their life together and becoming man and wife in the Bahamas next summer for an incredible destination wedding getaway. You guys are a lot of fun and I am so thankful that you contacted me to document this chapter in your life.

taylor + kris {chattanooga engagement photography}

Kris and Taylor are fun and laid back. They laugh easy and love just living life. . .together. They are not high maintenance and when they are not playing on the road you just might find them on the couch with a good movie, DQ blizzards in hand and their two pups curled up by their side.

They took their laid back attitudes and love for life and incorporated it into their engagement session. Love all the thought they put into their session down to my favorite feature including Kris’ grandmother’s handmade quilt. We were trying to contemplate just how many hours could have gone into all the tiny detail. Though her grandmother is gone Kris continues to remember her through priceless memorabilia. Items that could easily be incorporated into the backyard wedding these two are planning for next year. I can’t wait to see all the details you two have planned. I know it is going to be fabulous.

sneak peek

Life has been wild and crazy lately. Last time, I spoke about craziness on here we sold our house before it was put on the market, moved with a 2.5 year old and the hubs biked across the US from coast to coast in 29 days while building a new website (which is still in the works :) and starting a new business. All is well. More craziness is here, but I will spare you the details for now and instead share some pics of an uber fab couple from an upcoming project that I can’t wait to share.

Kristy comes from a family made up of high school sweethearts and her relationship with Kyle followed suit with family tradition. During a weekend trip to Savannah, Georgia (one of my favorite domestic locations :), Kyle solidified his feelings to Kristy in a surprise proposal next to the beautiful fountains in Savannah’s Forsyth Park. Kyle you did good! I had a great time with you two during your engagement session and we definitely looking forward to your upcoming wedding!

will + jill {chattanooga engagement photographer}

He played a guitar in a band and she thought he was pretty hot. They hung out through mutual friends and Jill may or may not ;) have coaxed said friends into orchestrating the set up. During said setup (or not:) they played their fair share of Frisbee and pretty much “dated” 2 months before they started dating. Ya know what I’m saying?

His proposal was quicker than expected. He just could not wait any longer. While a valentine engagement was not something he expected and possibly thought was a bit cliche, it ended up being the perfect timing. The church was studying commitment and he and the remainder of the worship band at church made a video speaking about commitment. The beginning of the video he walked into the church and the video then panned off and he physically walked into the church. He walked up on stage. Said a few words and while Jill was on stage with him he asked her to marry him. She was pleasantly VERY surprised and most definitely said yes! Along with just knowing and not being able to wait comes a short engagement, because when you know, why wait, ya know? :)

So the following is what we came up with for Will and Jill’s engagement session. A couple with mounds of character and spunk. I had SO much fun shooting this couple! Seriously, you two are fantastic and can not wait to share in your wedding at the end of this month!

You two are seriously presh!

I kinda love this bike. . .It was my mother-in-laws when she was a little girl. . .a little red vintage tandem schwinn. . .seriously kinda love this thing! Here are some pictures that our family photographer took of us earlier this year with this same bike.

Will and Jill found these initials on a random wall in downtown Chattanooga. The initials kinda spoke to them,

These are some staches and lips that I made for a project that is taking way too long to launch, so had to use them on Will and Jill cause they can rock the stache and oversized red lips

These two are like two grown up kids. They are responsible fabulous adults, but really know how to have a good time so on my way out the door to meet them I saw Ada’s chalk and thought ya know, W & J would totally go for some chalk…and they did.

After tromping around photographing in random spots of downtown Chattanooga we headed to Will’s place of employment, Southtree and I feel in love with this swanky joint.

Will and Jill say they were born a couple of decades late because they love old school and I love the props they brought to show just that. Vinyl records coupled with a vintage video camera and camera. . .yum!

Jill, you are flippin’ beautiful and have I told you enough how much I love the flower in your hair? Cuz I do! These two have some serious style!

Fun with cameras. . .yup, I love these two and their fabulousness!

I think this has to be my favorite of the day. . .Huge Canvas? I think so!

rebecca + alex {chattanooga wedding photographer}

Alex and Rebecca. . .love these two and this session verifies just why I love engagement sessions oh so much! We started out our evening at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, where Alex did a surprise engagement & party with all of their close family and friends last year.
